Origin

When I first went to New York to study, I could not speak English and walked around the city every day to distract myself from feeling lonely. One day I visited the Brooklyn Bridge and was fascinated by its presence that I had never seen before. The bridge surpassed its function of just going across and stood as if it were a vibrant park floating above the river. The robust structural towers, that reminded of the Arc de Triomphe, and the flexible cables decorated the bridge beautifully. It transcended barriers of language and conveyed the richness of architecture. It was a valuable experience that took my mind off the loneliness. I was strongly attracted to the architecture’s possibility of influencing even our emotions and that let me to pursue a career as an architect. I am aiming for architecture that represents “richness” of it as well as provides functions.
